Dzombo Hunting Safaris
Japsie Blaauw – Owner/ Dangerous Game PH
I never knew of a morning in Africa where I woke up and was not happy.
The only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa, for he has so much to look forward to.
The only way to experience fantastic things, you need to put yourself in fantastic places.
Africa is mystic, it is wild, it is a sweltering inferno, it is a hunter Valhalla, it is a photographers paradise, an escapist’s Utopia. It is your wildest dreams, and withstands all interpretations.
It is the last vestige of a dead world or the cradle of a shiny new one.
God visited everywhere else but lived in Africa
This is why we call it home.

I was born in the South of Namibia in the heart of the Kalahari.
Growing up with the vast arid Kalahari landscape in my back yard
My father learned me from a young age the importance of conservation and what our role is
towards protecting nature.
From a young age learning different plants and grasses, different animal behaviour their
tracks and how to follow them to get close to observe.
This is where my love for hunting and conservation started.
After completing my Bachelors degree in Agricultural at Free State University, i pursued my hunting dream.
Working in the industry building my skills I started my own outfitting company Dzombo Hunting Safaris in
2016
The inspiration for the name Dzombo Hunting Safari’s was drawn from legendary conservation work
done in the Kruger National Park.
Over thirty years ago seven impressive elephant bulls, all with tusks weighing more than 100lb each,
could be found in the Kruger National Park.
They were given the collective name, The Magnificent Seven, and Dzombo was one of them.
Dzombo is derived from the Tsonga word Dzombolo meaning ‘to wait for something that is slow in coming’.
Today 8 years later it is exactly the case “To wait for something that is slow in coming”
through consisted hard work dedication and preservation of our valuable natural resources
through extensive conservation work we have reached the level we want to operate on.
Today Dzombo has grown to operate in 8 different countries with 8,500,000
acres of free ranging concessions
From big tuskers in Boesmanland, to Illusive leopards in the Luangwa riverine, to Ibex mountain hunting in
Spain, to Mountain Nyala’s in Ethiopia, to the thick thrilling bush of Zambia and Zimbabwe to the Namib
Desert in Namibia we have experienced it al.
The best part of hunting is experiencing the rich and colourful cultures, friendly people, exhilarating
adventures and breath-taking natural beauty.
Hunting has a significant role to play in conservation Africa as a whole. None of this would have been
possible without the conservation of our areas and development of our people in our communities.
At Dzombo wilderness gave us knowledge, wilderness made us human.
Africa will change you forever, like nowhere on earth. Once you have been here, you will never be the same.
But how do you begin to describe its magic to someone who has never felt it? How can you explain the
fascination of this vast, dusty dark continent, whose eldest roads are Elephant paths?
You have to come experience it first hand.
Let Dzombo hunting Safaris make this dream come true.
But remember once you experience Africa, you cannot leave Africa, it will always be with you,
inside your head, the rivers will run in currents in the swirl of your
thumbprints, the drumbeats counting out your pulse,
the sunset a silhouette of your soul.
