During these months the climate is moderate, making for comfortable hunting conditions. Bow Hunters
Bow Hunters do not require a temporary import permit for their bow/s into South Africa, BUT do however require a USA Customs Declaration 4457 form for their Bow/s.

Hunters traveling with Rifle/s to South Africa
South Africa requires a temporary import/export permit for firearms and ammunition when traveling to South Africa. Firearm Import/Export permits can be issued at both our international ports of entry, Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airports, or applied for before your arrival in South Africa.

South Africa boasts a moderate climate, making for comfortable hunting conditions. Average Temperatures during our early season, March -April, range from 65F to 90F.Average Temperatures during our mid-season, winter. May -August, range from 40F to 85F, from our Northern areas night time and early morning temperatures can drop down to freezing.Average Temperatures during our late season, September -October, range from 65F to 100F
South African Currency
The currency in South Africa is the South African Rand. There are 100 cents to 1 rand. There are exchange bureaus in all towns and airports and in most hotels. Be sure to exchange some currency for SA Rands, as you may want to buy African souvenirs on your safari travels.
Electricity
The electricity in South Africa is 220 Volts. Please check that any of your electrical equipment’s charges accept 110 –240 Volts or else you will need to bring an inverter from 220 Volts to 110 Volts. You will also need a pin plug that fits into the South African system.

Malaria is present in certain areas of South Africa, particularly in the northeastern regions. Here are some key points:

Traveling & Visa Requirements
South Africa is one of the most stable countries in Africa and its first world infrastructure of roads and scheduled flights make getting around a pleasure. Your main entry into South Africa will be at our international airports in Johannesburg and Cape Town. From either airport, you can catch connecting flights to your final destination; your final flight destination will depend upon the area in which your safari is set to start.When booking your safari, it is essential that you arrive one day prior to your first hunting day and leave the day after your last hunting day. Please check that your travel schedule indicates this.Passports are required for travel to South Africa. Please note that for the most part no Visas are required. American and European Union passports are sufficient for entries into South Africa.
Children/Minors Under the Age of 18
As of 1 June 2015 there were new requirements introduced by the South African Department of Home Affairs, for additional documentation needed by persons under the age of 18 years for travel to and from South Africa.All under 18 travellers must travel with a full birth certificate with the child’s full name as printed on the passport and both parent’s details need to be displayed on the certificate, passports of both parents and also a valid visa if required.In case of one parent travelling with a child, he or she must produce an unabridged certificate and an affidavit from the other parent registered as a parent on the birth certificate of the child authorising him or her to enter into or depart the Republic of South Africa with the child he or she is travelling with, a court order granting fullparental

ALL ammunition you are travelling with, internationally arriving/departing in/out of South Africa and within South Africa / regionally within Southern Africa on SA Airlink/flysafair must be in a separate locked hard metal/plastic ammunition case. (No tapped cardboard boxes allowed) Ammunition is no longer allowed to be checked within checked luggage arriving in South Africa.
Ammunition will never be carried in the cabin or flight deck of the aircraft. Ammunition must be packed separately and securely from the firearm case and not in the checked bag onto final destination (Port Elizabeth/Home). Also note a maximum of 200 rounds of ammunition is allowed per firearm/per calibre. Most airlines have a weight limit on ammunition of 5KG/11 LBS, which is approximately 140 rounds of 243 / 120 rounds of 300 Win Mag / 100 rounds of 375.
